Palace of the Grand Master
The Knights' fortress at the top of the Old Town.
At the top of the Street of the Knights stands the palace of the Grand Masters, who ruled Rhodes for more than two centuries. Its towers and battlements make it the most recognisable building on the island.
A palace rebuilt
The original was wrecked by a gunpowder explosion in 1856. In the 1930s the Italians rebuilt it, laying ancient mosaics brought from Kos into the floors and filling the halls with period furniture.

Inside
Today it's a museum: grand halls upstairs, and exhibitions on ancient and medieval Rhodes on the ground floor.
